On the evening of the Street Fayre, many people arrived early to set up their stalls for their local organisations...

... with smiles all round!

The Gala Champion, Dylan Bathgate, was escorted by his Heralds, Stuart Matthews and Shaun Harte, by Gala Committee representatives, Stuart Borrowman and Susan Rooney, and by members of Newland Concert Brass Band.

Formal speeches were made at the entrance to Tollgate House...

 
 ...and the group moved on briskly to the Queen-elect's home, led by Standard Bearers Murray Armstrong, Ryan Stott, Nathan Thomson and Kamil Witonski.

The bunting in front of The Goth tells it all!  The sky darkened, the wind freshened, the banner flapped loose, but timely intervention rescued the day, and the march continued.... to the relief of all concerned!

At the Queen-elect's home, with speeches over, there was time to relax...

 

but for some onlookers there was still a big occasion to come...

Meanwhile, back in North Street...

... some faces were 'changing' and even the sun had decided to join in the fun!

By the end of the evening, we were all hoping that Saturday, the day of the Gala Queen's crowning, would bring more reliable weather...
